Opt-out/Permissions/Mask/Harvesting

1. Opt-Out

Liselotte's background features teeth heavily. Louise is a dentist, teeth is what she's primarily made of, Lottie spent her Durance sorting and delivering teeth and partly subsisted on 'bad' ones, and the Fae who created one and trapped the other is heavily inspired by Tooth Fairy stories.

If teeth, or teeth in a certain context, squick you, please tell me so and I'll take care to not mention them (in those situations) in our threads!

Also hit me up if you'd prefer to not play with one or either of them!

3. Masks

Both Lottie and Louise do not look human in truth, but they do look very baseline human to almost everyone. The "magical people skin" covers appearance, movement, sounds, scent, and so on of any part of their bodies that don't look like they would look if Liselotte had never come into contact with anything fae.

Under certain circumstances, however, this perfect illusion can be seen through. No technology can achieve this, and most magical abilities will only offer a hint at their nature without actually breaking the "magical people skin" - an aura reading ability, for example, will simply show a rainbow pattern around them instead of whatever else it shows for "baseline human", but not be able to pierce the Mask.

Now what do they look like under the Mask?

Lottie: Think of a woodlouse. Now take a child and replace hair, back and legs with the back segment of the woodlouse, add the antennae, give the the back segments a stone-like texture and give the proper child parts a structure that is like very soft, clammy chitin. Give everything a grey-ish colour, and you have a rough idea of what Lottie looks like. She is also heavier to those who can see through her Mask.

Louise: Her Mien is... well. She just looks like a doll shaped out of crap that the Fae who made her had at hand when she needed a replacement-Liselotte. So she's a walking mess of bad teeth wrapped around dentistry tools, held together by floss.

On a case by case basis and/or under very specific circumstances, other characters might be able to see through the Masks.
Lottie Other fae beings will be able to see through Lottie's Mask.
People who took who took the Oath of the Rose and Thorn from her.
If she drops her Mask (burning all her Glamour and thus leaving herself very vulnerable, which makes her unlikely to do it.)
BothSpecific fairytale-y circumstances can create a situation in which the Mask doesn't work for a certain person for the duration of said circumstances - a virgin who looks at them in the first light of the new moon while holding a gift from her grandmother, someone looking through a midsummer fire, things like that. If you are interested in creating such a situation, hit me up and we can figure something out.
Sometimes, a glance out of the corner of one's eye will show them as they truly are for a split second. I will mention such occasions in the narration.

If you think that your character might be able to see through the Mask of one or both of them, please hit me up in the comments and tell me why, and we can work it out together!

4. Glamour

Both Liselottes can and need to harvest Glamour. This means that they need to be at a certain level of proximity to a person having strong feelings - preferably something deep-seated (someone grieving a beloved) but something quick (someone being sad that their favourite mug broke) will work as well, it will just not feel as sating. The process of harvesting will not cause any harm to the target (if you think that your character might be a special case where it does cause harm, let's chat) and will not be noticeable to them, either - it cannot be felt. Some magical might be able to observe the process, but that's it.

Now while baseline human Glamour is safe, issues may arise when the target is a supernatural. Those are, like everything else, on a case-by-case basis, but if you think that your character's Glamour could have side effects or even averse effects on the harvester, please tell me here! An example of issues would be that trying to harvest from a raging werewolf will send them into an uncontrollable rage as well, while a werewolf who is just irate might be safe to harvest from.

So if you have a character whose Glamour might have side effects, please tell me about it!

And now for the handy-dandy questionnaire!

Should I avoid mentioning teeth/teeth issues in any capacity around you/a character of yours? Nah it's cool!
Can your character see through Louise or Lottie's Masks? Probably not unless we really want to create a situation for it. Stone has no real magical abilities aside from shapeshifting, but his shapeshifting is based on dimensional swapping, so there might be something we could work with there... if you WANT there to be :P
Might their Glamour come with side effects, and if yes, would they always be present or only under specific conditions? Stone is not remotely human. There are no humans on his planet, even. I admit I am not sure what this will do for his glamour? It could be perfectly normal, but I am happy to discuss it though if you want some fun or weird effects :)
Anything else I should ḱnow? Let him babysit. Lottie can climb around on his spines and use his tail for a swing.

2. If anything, I'd say it'd be like a flash when he's doing his shapechanging, but that's just if you want it ^^

3. So like... make it stiff and hard to move? Or actually stone? (Stone XD hahaha)

It might be kind of hilarious and definitely fairy-tale-ish to have it based on their names... Stone and Bramble being the two Raksura in the game :3

Hmm. Scales, wings, being able to sense "south" at all times (useless in this game), casualness about sex and relationships, tendency to hiss when startled or angry? Scales is probably the easiest one to work into a glamour-harvest.

Oh no XD That does sound very fae-ish, though. Would it disrupt the finding instincts between them? (Them being Lottie and Louise)

Can your character see through Louise or Lottie's Masks? Maybe? Not fae but also basically a god, so depending on what you want to mess with we could probably go either way.
Might their Glamour come with side effects, and if yes, would they always be present or only under specific conditions? Oh it's probably weird. XD It might be as simple as it's very intense because Phillip just has so much magic, but we can talk about it!
Anything else I should ḱnow? Phillip can be the best/worst babysitter

Should I avoid mentioning teeth/teeth issues in any capacity around you/a character of yours? Nope, I'm good.

Can your character see through Louise or Lottie's Masks? Potentially. Zelda has a magic power that allows her to sense hidden objects and true forms. (It's in the 'abilities' section of her info sheet if you want to read it.) Typically, she can only tell that something is hidden or that someone is not in their true form; it would take a lot of focus and effort to see through to what the true form is. It sounds like the Masks are really good, so it may take awhile before Zelda even notices that Liselotte are not exactly as they appear. So Zelda might become aware that the Masks exist, but she's too polite to use her magic to pry past those Masks unless she thinks Liselotte is a big threat. And I would absolutely talk that over with you if I was interested in doing that!

Might their Glamour come with side effects, and if yes, would they always be present or only under specific conditions? Although she's humanoid, Zelda is full of magic and has reincarnated a number of times (she does not know about her reincarnations, though). I'll leave it up to you Zelda's Glamour would impact Liselotte, but it it does, it'd be all the time. Zelda's magic is basically always on.

Anything else I should ḱnow? I don't think so.
